My friends on the north side of Chicago and I used to drive down to Dolton to eat pizza at Pappa Damianis for years. Lou makes one of the best pizzas on the planet!

Grew up eating Damiani's pizza and it will always be the absolute pinnacle of what delicious quality pizza should aspire to be! From early days living in Dolton, IL., it was always a treat when my father brought home a couple Papa Damiani's pizzas. From as early as we could talk, after days of working at my father's semi-truck yard (behind the Dolton police station, then later off Greenwood ave), when it came time to head home and asked "what should we pickup to eat", "could we get Damiani's please, Dad?!" was always the response.

Damiani's obviously has a place in my heart! But, don't mistake that for just nostalgia... Papa Damiani, through his choices in meats, cheeses, sauce, and baking techniques developed the best damn thin crust ... best damn pizza period ... I've ever had, 40 years and running. Put it this way: 3 years in Nevada (before moving back to IL.) and the thing i missed most from home was Damiani's Pizza.

In my not so humble (at all) opinion, Damiani’s Pizza will ALWAYS BE the pizza I use to compare ALL OTHER PIZZAS against. Although it has been (sadly) decades since I’ve had the pleasure-my quest continues. For sure I can say that from Pittsburgh to Damiani’s current Lynwood location-NOTHIBG COMPARES!!! Love to Louis, always!!
