UPDATE...RESTAURANT HAS CLOSED...Loonng happy hour (11-7) every day, but service was terrible. Ordered a milkshake and was told they didn't have ice cream. 5 minutes later a milkshake appears at an adjoining table!

Paramount Cafe was one of my favorite spots and I've been going for years. I especially liked the reasonable happy hour drinks and appetizers. But it sure has been a hit-or-miss experience. Sometimes it's been fantastic and sometimes it's been a comedy of errors. It's been leaning toward the bad for several visits. On my recent stop, we ordered the loaded steak fries and Won Ton Juan's with our drinks. The Won Tons were crispy little bites of goodness filled with melted cheese with a delightful spicy kick. I could eat a dozen of those, but it wouldn't leave me room for the loaded steak fries. Those things were massive, but sadly undercooked. I'm pretty sure that fries shouldn't be hard, crispy, and crunchy like a raw potato. We let the bartender know and she carted them away and placed a new order. Bummer that the replacement was just as undercooked. I've had them before and they were delicious. Fast forward a couple of days when I brought coworkers in a for some going away drinks. The waiter in the bar was confused to say the least. When I ordered a "dirty martini" he asked what I meant so I had to explain. I also asked what flavors the two infused vodkas were behind the bar, but that was met with a bit of a shrug and a confused look. Service was slow, painfully so, until another server kicked in and started to wait on our table. If I were to review just on my prior visits, I'd definitely be giving it more than two stars. But my last several visits were solidly down there and seem to be staying that way. I may have to say goodbye to a favorite spot and move on.
