We came in around 9:30 tonight after having a great night out with our friends. The place looked awesome on the map and we were excited to stop in and keep the night going, but that excitement got absolutely ruined by the blonde waitress who works there. Right from the start, it was not a welcome environment. The first three of us walked in and stood there for maybe 30 seconds before a male worker shouted at us from across the restaurant that we seat ourselves. Okay, fine - but we'd never been there before, so we didn't know that. We started looking for a table for six, didn't see any tables with more than 4 seats then noticed an open patio door leading to more tables. The second we started wandering through the patio door, the blonde waitress screamed at us, "patio service is inside!" with zero explanation or offer to help. My boyfriend tried to ask her about it and she just rudely told us she wouldn't serve us if we sat outside. Had no clue what that meant, again no other explanation provided. We were already frustrated and actually walked out intending to find another place to eat, but by then everywhere else was closing so ultimately we decided to go back in with the rest of our group. We warned everyone what we'd just dealt with, and this time another one of our guys went up to ask her about a table for 6. I was so done with the rudeness at that point that I started recording discreetly so I could show management how their staff treats people in case she did it again. Unsurprisingly, she was rude to him too. Told him "I'm gonna move the tables for you, that's my answer to your question" in the most dismissive way. Seemingly the second she noticed my phone facing in her direction, or maybe she just realized she wasn’t being polite, she flipped completely and was overly fake nice for the rest of the time which honestly made it worse. We kept looking at each other in shock and confusion like, is this really happening? Every time a new interaction happened, we'd just exchange glances across the table, searching each other's faces for some kind of explanation. We weren't being difficult, we weren't complaining, we just wanted to sit down and eat. Six people, all completely bewildered, all feeling the same disbelief at the same time. We held out hope that the food would save the night, but it didn't. We waited over 30 minutes just for three pizzas/drinks, wasn’t super busy and we didn’t order anything complicated. The pizzas were bad too unfortunately. One was so soggy that it just fell apart and the other was dry and crispy like eating a giant crouton. Not what we expected when ordering these $26 pizzas. Not one of the 6 of us has ever been treated that poorly at any establishment before. I work in service myself and I would never dream of speaking to customers like that. I get that we're in our 20s, but that doesn't mean we don't deserve basic respect. If you're going to auto gratuity parties of six or more, at least make sure your staff actually deserves that tip. I guess I can’t question the reasoning behind the 20% auto gratuity based on this experience, it makes complete sense because we would not have tipped her a dollar after how she made us feel like an inconvenience to her. I honestly think having that auto gratuity is a bad business model and makes staff slack on treatment, tips are supposed to be earned by having quality customer service and caring about the people you serve - no matter who they are, how old they are, what time of day it is, how busy it is. The better the service, the more inclined people are to tip you better. I'd really like to speak with someone from higher management and show them the videos, because you never know who you're serving and should treat everyone with kindness. I could’ve been a journalist, a food critic, an influencer, anything. This was a super disappointing and upsetting end to our previously amazing night. Maybe I’ll try it again someday. I ate there a while (years) back, but I saw that my review was taken down and my experience was so bad that I want to make sure it’s seen. Food was fine, but service was so awful I would never go back unless that waitress with the short hair leaves or gets fired. She was pugnacious and incompetent at her job. We waited for 20 minutes for our water, and it was only filled once after we asked 3 times in the 1.5 hour+ we were there (we were a group of around 10). A friend didn’t have utensils and 15 minutes later still didn’t, so another friend who had finished eating lent their fork lol. We had asked for the fork twice and honestly there were still friends in the group willing to cut her some slack. It was clear she cared nothing about people and just wanted to hang out and chat with her friends who I think are regulars. She FLIPPED OUT when we asked about whether the automatic tip which we were expecting was calculated incorrectly because the tax was also included. She said that’s machine-calculated, we said ok and were gonna pay, and then she went on a whole spiel about how it’s a fair tipping system lol. She wanted the large tips without putting in the work, and frankly no amount of good food would make me want to ever possibly tip an entitled, lazy person like her, especially when pizza of that quality (which is good) and calzones of better quality can be found elsewhere in the city for similar prices. We came here thinking it was the zoo. If you know the area, you know I'm an idiot!! However super happy with this accidental find. Great patio! The bartenders were great! They had a birthday party for a lady's 60th birthday and she was funny and we had a great time. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
