Out of town visiting family for holidays. Had craving for fried catfish so drive to Ocilla from Fitzgerald to go to The Catfish House, which advertised online as being open. They were not. Luckily, right across from them is Peck's Place. We had not heard of them but we were not disappointed. Party of 8 had plenty of seating. Very plain digs, as one would expect. And they were out of some things, like oysters and ribs. But they more than made up for it with their super friendly service, quick attention and simply amazing classic deep fry and sandwiches. The catfish filets were as good as I've ever had and the fried shrimp were HUGE, succulent and perfectly cooked. Possibly the best fried shrimp I've ever had. Fried Macaroni and cheese nuggets and potato logs were the highlight sides. Only thing subpar were the tots. But everything else was truly very good. A perfect family lunch or dinner spot.
