Been here twice in the last week. On Saturday we ate in and were squeezed in last minute without a table which was great. It’s a small place but nice and rustic. All of our pizzas were great but my son’s pizza with salami was too spicy for him (we didn’t realise it said spicy salami on their chalkboard menu on the wall). My wife and I’s pizzas were fabulous. What caught us by surprise was £3.25 for 11 olives, £2.00 for a tiny pot of chilli oil and 50p for chilli flakes. Never been charged for chilli oil or flakes even in Napoli. Understand they’re a new business but there was no warning of this and not even the chalk board let me know. Waitress tried to say it’s on there but admitted it wasn’t after I challenged her. Tonight we ordered and was told to be there at 6:15. Arrived on time. Was told it’ll be a further 5mins at 6:17. At 6:28 I was approached for payment and when I asked how long, was told it’ll be another 2 mins. At 6:37 it’s finally in my hands. Didn’t appreciate the poor service. Aside from that, the pizza just didn’t taste the same. We live 5 mins away by car. Dough was chewy and didn’t have that great rich taste especially with ingredients like the beef for the Manzo pizza. Maybe it was just an off day but Saturday was just as busy so don’t understand the difference. A sorry for being 22mins later than told and keeping my car running wasn’t great with no gesture of goodwill to truly say sorry. Do better guys because the Saturday on pizza was phenomenal and learn to manage expectations better. Edit 11/04/24 - thanks for taking the time to respond Matt, most appreciated. Learnt something too about the steam in the box. However, you are wrong about chilli oil being £1. My wife and I both saw the receipt which clearly stated £2.00 Chilli oil. Maybe we were double charged then? As for the cost of chilli oil, totally understand economics behind the decision. as someone who also makes his own chilli oil using good quality olive oil imported from Spain but still don’t think this should be charged. Even the way it was provided in a small round metal dish was a messy way of pouring onto our pizzas. Either way, thanks for taking the feedback onboard. We will be back for more in the future. Hi Mark, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. …Hi Mark, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I am glad you enjoyed the pizza on your first visit. With regards to the olives we serve good quality Nocellara olives so feel the price is fair and certainly very competitive with other local restaurants. With regards to the chilli oil, we use high quality, chilli infused extra virgin olive oil. We charge £1 for this not £2. Olive oil prices have sky rocketed over the last few years and therefore we do not think it makes sense to offer chilli oil for free (and make a significant loss) when we have a charge for other dips and toppings. With regards to the chilli flakes, our till system is linked to our online orders. Each item is required to have a price. In hindsight 50p is too high for this and I have therefore lowered it. This information however should have been made clear on our menu board and we have updated this as a result of your feedback. With regards to the pizzas they would have been made in the same way using the same process and ingredients. Neapolitan style pizza is characterised by its chewy but crunchy texture. However due to the reflectively high proportion of water in the dough, when pizzas are taken away in a box, the steam that is released from the dough will mean that the pizzas will lose some of that 'crunch' and will become slightly more chewy as a result. We have always believed our pizzas are very good for takeaway but best when they are eaten in the restaurant. With regards to the wait time yesterday, I am sorry to had to wait longer than expected. We were exceptionally busy and as a result slightly under staffed. One of your pizzas also had to be re-made to ensure quality and that lead to the extra delay. While I can understand that your wait time was frustrating, I think some level of understanding that myself and the waiter were working incredibly hard and doing the best that we could. That being said I will talk to my staff about conveying information about delays in the kitchen more effectively. Again I am sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see you again in the near future. Thanks MattMore
