Pepe in Shimoda is a small café that really left an impression on us due to its warmth and hospitality. The ladies who run the place are genuinely kind and make you feel at home the moment you walk in. We chatted a bit about ume (Japanese plums), and I mentioned how much I liked them. A few minutes later, she surprised me with some extra to enjoy. It was such a simple gesture, but it really stayed with me. The food is truly homemade and nothing fancy, just honest and made with care. You can tell it’s prepared by someone who enjoys cooking for others. If you’re in Shimoda and want a nice place with heart, this is it. Highly recommended. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
