After you have seen Kaffeemuseum Wien, visit this cafe. Immerse yourself in wonderful Austrian cuisine at this place. The whole impression won't be complete without rum that is delicious here.

The Perchtenstüberl is a popular Lokal in the 5th district of Vienna. It serves up good downhome Viennese cooking with a few Serbian specialties thrown in. And it is a busy drinking spot for many in the neighborhood. For me it's less than a ten minute walk but def further than all the trendy spots right around me (and which I also like by the way.) The friendly owner tends bar and serves the food which his wife diligently prepares in the kitchen. What is especially great here is the annual Martinigansl dinner. It is superb and priced only at 14 Euros. What is the Martinigansl, you ask? Well today November 11 is St. Martin's Day - Fröhlicher Martinstag (Happy St. Martin's Day) everyone!! - and on this day and around this time of year Austrians indulge in a huge Roast Goose feast called the Martinigansl. The Perchtenstüberl cooked up one of the tastiest I've ever eaten - the goose was perfect, the gravy flavorful, the red cabbage awesome and with Semmelknödel and Preiselbeeren (Preisel berries), it was truly a meal to enjoy. A Murauer beer only added to the festivities. The Perchtenstüberl is one of the unpretentious spots def not on any tourist route or included in the many Vienna guidebooks, but sometimes these are the places to eat for warm hearty cooking. When in doubt, follow the locals ... and many locals eat here.
