NOT closed. Very open and exceptional! Breakfast as always been terrific here at the Embassy Suites with 'the omelette whisperer.' I'm very picky about egg dishes and he is the master. But the best news is the arrival of Chef Jay. I was gobsmacked by his halibut at the HGI and had to 'follow' him when found out that he had moved over to the Embassy Suites. Inventive and skilled, his entrees are delicious. I had the chicken tonight and the marriage of flavors (with just the right zip of peppers) was delightful. His is not the cuisine one normally expects In a hotel restaurant, and just the reward this travel weary road warrior needed at the end of the day.
Lousy food. I ordered gnocchi with the bacon, I had to search for the bacon, it was hard to find. The sauce tasted like it came out of the can. My husband ordered the fish and chips, which were overcooked. The french fries were pretty good, I must admit. The food was bad but what was more insulting was how much they charge for their meals. Grotesquely overpriced, even for Alaskan standards. Will not return, very disappointed.
