Call me crazy, but we had done all the touristy things in Auckland and decided to ride a train to the end of the line. We went west all the way to Swanson, about an hour ride. Found the best pizza and pasta at Picollo! The food was freshly made and fantastic. The pizza had a thin crispy crust, and my pasta had a wonderful creamy sauce with plenty of chicken. So good! Things to note: Check their hours, they are limited. This is a take away pizza place; there's only one small table and two chairs, and they didn't even have any paper plates. But we knew what we were getting into and thoroughly enjoyed our early dinner and had plenty leftover to take back to Auckland for the next days lunch. It's fun to get off the beaten path and try something new! Highly recommend Picollo Pizza and Pasta. Incredible experience; they were so lovely and personable, there are a good variety of flavours, the wait time was relatively quick, and the food was INCREDIBLE. Would highly recommend; very reasonable prices for what you get, too.
