SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE - WARNING I have been a patron of picturehouse central for years and previously loved it, however after my most recent experience, I feel compelled to warn the public about the serious safety issues at picturehouse. On Saturday 25/07/2026 I went to see the 8pm showing of obsession with a friend in cinema 5. Halfway through the film, I went to the bathroom. As a pacemaker user with a serious heart condition, I used the accessible bathroom on the same floor. The was damage to the door handle, but as someone exited the bathroom right before I used it, I assumed it was purely cosmetic. When I tried to exit however, the door would not open. I attempted to call my friend, however being in a cinema, her phone was on silent so I pulled the medical assist alarm to raise the staffs attention. Nobody came. I then tried to call the venue directly? However despite obviously being open and staffed, apparently it was out of hours. I tried to break the door down. After another 5 minutes of the alarm sounding and no assistance, I called the fire department. As the fire department arrived, my friend checked her phone because of my extended absence, and rushed to the recuse to free me. I was trapped in the disabled bathroom for more than 15 minutes. I pulled the alarm at 2 minutes in. 13 minutes of an emergency alarm sounding, no staff response. It is obvious that the alarm does not work, and they did nothing to alert partrons or seal off this bathroom. Not only is the gross negligence and illegal, but I now believe picturehouse is trying to sweep this under the rug. They assured me after I reported this that someone would be reaching out. Nobody has. I have email, no response. For all I know, this bathroom is still in operation. I have a pacemaker and a heart condition, if I had been having a medical event, I would have died due to the negligence of the venue and broken alarm. I am taking legal action, however if you have a disability or medical condition and are considering visiting, please heed this review and know it’s not a safe place for you.

Great seats. Great picture. Friendly staff. Sound much too loud, even though I wore earplugs.
