Nicely cooked cod fish and chips, clam chowder and fried salmon can make a profound impression on you. Many visitors come here to enjoy good crème brûlée, ice cream and cobbler. The wine list is diverse, it can satisfy the needs of all clients. You will be offered delicious coffee, lemonade or tea.
Most guests are satisfied with the cool staff and the terrific service at this bar. You will like average prices. There is a pretty atmosphere and cute decor at Pier Chowder House & Tap Room. 4.2 is what this place received from the Google rating system.

Ate here September 3rd, 2022 and found the entire experience horrible. Locals are not welcome. We were ignored for almost 35 minutes while people who came in after us were served. We finally moved inside as it was cold and to try to get service and the bartender said she was our server. Renee served drinks and pretty much ignored us. It took an hour after we finally ordered to get our food. I tasted something hard in my Fettuccini Alfredo pasta and finally realized several cloves of garlic had been coursely chopped and just thrown in without being cooked at all. I complained as it was inedible but they talked to the 'chef' and he said that's the way it's cooked. I've cooked Italian for 40 years and you just don't throw large pieces of raw garlic into pasta. Clam chowder had no clams. Wait staff had a horrible attitude. Getting the check was the fastest service of the night. I was pissed off but no one even cared. I would avoid this place like the plague.

We tried four Fish & Chips meals during out time in the Mendocino area. Please look for all 4 of our comparison reviews on yelp. Here's our ranking and preference for each of the four. The Pier Chowder House & Tap Room in Point Arena came in as our favorite. Crispy, solid firm white fish, four pieces for $17, with fresh steamed veggies and onion rings. The chowder was our favorite, thick and flavorful at $11 a bowl. This was the only place with a nice ocean view and full bar. They have a good selection of local wines at decent prices. They advertised 31 beers on tap, but there were only 13 available of the 14 listed on their menu. If we have time to revisit, we will stop here again for drinks and chowder at the bar. The place was very clean and had friendly staff.
