I visited Pipero with my husband for lunch, expecting a special experience from a Michelin-starred restaurant, but unfortunately we left very disappointed. The biggest issue was how unbearably hot it was inside the restaurant. We mentioned several times that we were feeling very hot and asked if the air conditioning could be turned up. Instead of improving the temperature, they brought us a small handheld fan. When we said we were still hot, they brought another one, but the first fan stopped working not long afterwards. I honestly could not understand how we were supposed to enjoy a Michelin-starred tasting menu in such an uncomfortable environment. Even if someone is particularly sensitive to heat, I think most people would find it difficult to concentrate on the food and fully appreciate its flavors while sitting through an entire tasting menu feeling this hot. What made this even harder to understand was that we were the only two guests in the restaurant at the time. The restaurant was not busy, yet despite mentioning our discomfort several times, the issue was never properly addressed. The staff kept asking if everything was okay, but repeatedly asking that question is very different from actually resolving a problem that guests have already mentioned several times. The payment experience was also disappointing. After paying the bill presented to us by the restaurant, we later discovered that one €150 tasting menu had apparently been omitted. The restaurant subsequently charged the additional €150 to the card we had provided when making the reservation, without contacting us or explaining the situation beforehand. I completely understand that the €150 was an amount we owed for the meal. My concern is not about having to pay it. However, I would expect a restaurant of this level to contact the guest, explain their billing mistake, and inform them before making an additional charge to a card on file. The food itself was also not particularly enjoyable for me, but taste is subjective, so I don’t want to focus too much on that. What disappointed me most was the overall experience: an extremely uncomfortable dining environment that was never properly resolved despite our repeated requests, the unusual response of providing handheld fans, and the lack of communication regarding the additional payment. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, I expected much greater attention to detail and a more refined level of hospitality. The best Michelin-starred restaurant in Rome. I usually don't write reviews because most places don't leave a lasting impression, but Pipero Roma truly stands out. They manage to reinvent traditional Roman dishes (like carbonara) and Italian classics (risotto, ravioli, and more) in creative and refined ways without losing their authentic essence. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the waitstaff are extremely kind. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious dining experience, whether they are Italian or not.
