We waited to leave this review to give this place another chance. Unfortunately, both times were awful. Terrible service, high prices & even worse food quality with limited options. Probably the worst vegan food we’ve ever had the displeasure of trying & eating, which is a shame because we need more vegan options. We tried them the first time last summer & thought maybe we’d give it another try & see if it had improved & strengthened options. The vegan burger was downright disgusting & undercooked & lettuce, tomato & fixings not fresh or crisp & already semi-slimy. Had to remove them altogether & eat the burger plain begrudgingly. The texture was completely off & almost gritty. Definitely not savory or enticing. My wife couldn’t eat hers, she was too grossed out from the slimy film & feared getting sick with salmonella or listeria. Despite her skepticism & reluctance, I told her we should give them another chance since it’s hard to find vegan options in chain restaurants. I ended up in the dog house for that mistake. We tried the Tofu & it was also underwhelming & service was slow & unfriendly. It wasn’t cooked well to form a nice crisp outer surface & maintain the inner consistent texture for a nice symbiotic balance that is essential for great tofu. It lacked any pizazz, taste & was just plain, bland, mediocre tofu, slightly undercooked, which made it unappetizing. Service was slow & disorganized for such limited options & the people working were not very friendly, if not downright rude. Both times we were left disappointed & underwhelmed. We really expected more from a vegan specific food service. One of the workers, presumably the owner was extremely rude & off putting. The entire atmosphere & vibe was unpleasant & uncomfortable.

We went for our last PEK before they close tomorrow due to moving. I wanted to leave them on a positive review that they rightfully deserve. Pek is the first place we visited that was all vegan. We have returned many times since. We are always greeted so nicely and they now know our names. We always stop and have a chat whilst they cook our food and it doesn’t matter how busy it gets, they’re always happy to catch up. Today we had a large meal that included 2x sweetcorn (our fav), garlic potatoes, 2x big boy burger, 3x biscoff waffles and 3x homemade brownies. We had to soak it all up while we could. We hope you can find a permanent place to call home for PEK, so we can come and eat your delicious food again. Thank you!! We will miss your amazing hosting skills, delicious food and conversations.
