Came in with a group of lovely Argentinians who are in town to watch the World Cup. It’s their first time in Dallas and they wanted to watch a game during dinner at a spot close to their hotel, so they made a reservation. The server was almost comically rude. The members of the party all speak English but the sever made clear at every turn that she was irritated by their accents. I had to translate nearly every word no matter how obvious, just to make it less awkward as she stood there with visible contempt at having to spend an extra millisecond deciphering that salmon pronounced with an “L” is just salmon. She would sigh and say, “Can you just point at what you want? I can’t .” Her disdain for the group was so palpable everyone kept wondering what was going on. This was a quiet, polite, low-maintenance table. Our only two requests (olive oil and a question about the gnocchi) were met with complete resistance. “Can I ask you a question?” “If it’s only a second, yes.” Other than that, the bread was fantastic and so was the Gorgonzola gnocchi. There was one very friendly Armenian employee I talked to outside. But the server really ruined the dinner. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Eva, It’s upsetting to hear that your group’s dinner was overshadowed by disappointing service, especially when you were hoping for a welcoming night out together. We’re reflecting on your experience so we can foster the warm, respectful atmosphere every guest deserves. All our respect, Porta Di Roma

Tried Porta Di Roma recently and honestly left pretty disappointed. The biggest issue was the food itself. We ordered the chicken parmesan, and it was extremely bland barely any seasoning or flavor at all. The Alfredo noodles and sauce that came with it were the same way. Everything looked good when it came out, but the taste just completely fell flat. For an Italian restaurant, especially at those prices, we expected much more flavor and quality. Even the bread was disappointing. It didn’t come out until we were already eating our meal, when bread usually comes out first, and it honestly had almost no flavor. No garlic taste, no seasoning, nothing that made it memorable. Unfortunately, the service didn’t help the experience either. Our waitress forgot my Sprite, and throughout the meal we constantly had to flag someone down just to get basic service or attention. Even when we were trying to leave, it felt difficult getting assistance. The atmosphere itself wasn’t terrible, but the combination of disappointing food and poor service made the experience underwhelming overall. The main takeaway was just how flavorless the food was, which was surprising considering the restaurant’s reputation and presentation. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
