I've had the opportunity to stay at the Premier Inn Aberdeen South (Portlethen) hotel on numerous occasions over the past 20 years, and my experiences have generally been positive. The location is convenient and the staff are consistently friendly and accommodating, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall stay. The rooms, while not luxurious, are comfortable and sufficiently equipped for a pleasant stay. However, on a recent visit, I faced an issue that considerably impacted the convenience of my stay. The hotel has stopped accepting Maestro debit cards, a popular payment method in many countries. This change caused significant inconvenience as it prevented the easy purchase of food and drinks at the hotel bar, and created additional tasks such as withdrawing pounds from the bank in order to work with cash. From a business perspective, this lack of payment flexibility is not practical. We tried different cards from various banks including ING, Rabobank, and ABN Amro, all of which were unfortunately rejected. This is an aspect that the management should reconsider, as it can have a significant impact on the overall guest experience. Despite my long history with this location, this development may unfortunately influence our future booking decisions. While I understand that businesses must make various choices for a variety of reasons, it is still a regrettable change that may push us to book rooms in central Aberdeen instead. I hope that the management will take this feedback into consideration to continue improving their service. We value our relationship with the Premier Inn Aberdeen South (Portlethen) hotel, and we hope to see this issue resolved for the convenience of both current and future guests.
