On Friday, July 17 we were in town for a family reunion from Cleveland, Ohio. It was my husbands bday and we had a hard time finding a place that served brunch on Friday morning, but we ended up finding Presleys. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted with “Hi friends! Welcome to Presleys!” by the two friendly ladies at the front desk. Our Server Jeremiah was top tier - very personable, friendly and accommodating, very attentive, and just overall pleasant and enjoyable. Our food and drinks came out quickly and the food was hot. Everyone in the establishment seemed attentive and very service oriented, including the bartender at the bar who noticed me waiting for the bathroom and immediately stopped what he was doing to walk around the bar and direct me through the lobby of the building to where there was another bathroom. As someone with a management background in the service industry, these little things are what make the experience when you’re stepping into a place of business. Any restaurant can make good food but it’s the people that make the experience. The staff working that morning was A-1, Presleys must be doing something right! The Worst Lobster Roll Ever I have to give credit where it's due... they brought the historic David Whitney Building back from the dead, and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. But let's talk about this lobster roll. Presley's Kitchen Detroit... y'all, this wasn't a 10 out of 10. Not even close. No fresh lobster in sight. The claw was obviously thawed from frozen, and the rest tasted like imitation seafood mixed in to stretch the portion. For the price and the hype, I expected a genuine lobster roll, not a shellfish conspiracy. The cocktails? Solid. The building? Stunning. The lobster roll? A historic disappointment. And no, this wasn't an "off day." This felt intentional! like someone thought they could pull a fast one on my foodie intellect and call it lobster. I've eaten enough good food to know the difference between a lobster roll and an overpriced bait-and-switch. #DetroitEats #LobsterRollReview #FoodieAdventures.
