So we booked months ago for our annual Christmas Eve dinner. Arriving for our reservation we were seated at a rickety table directly infront of the door. There were several booths open that could have seated my party of 3. The manager was extremely rude. Told us we couldn't be seated there because it was for parties of 4. More than 30 min later both booths are still empty the table shakes and tilts. Our waitress bless her heart, has been fabulous. Although they provided a heater it doesn't work. So we are still seated at this terrible table with attic blasts coming and absolutely shaking table. I'm told that we had a booth because someone specifically asked for it we were moved. Thatcbooth remained empty until we left. And only 2 people were seated there. It's a shame that a restaurant put profit over people. If the had just said we are full when we made our reservation or no to the people who booked after us then all the drama could have been avoided. Stumbled upon this gem in Shepherdstown the other day, the dining area was busy on a Saturday evening which is to expected, however the bar area is full service and is first come first serve and a group had just cleared out as I was walking by. Must have been divine intervention by the foodie gods! I was welcomed by the bartender who I believe was named Susie, she was very welcoming and attentive to all of her customers' needs the entire duration of my visit. I ordered the 16oz Ribeye special(I was hungry) and paired it with the red wine pictured in this post. Wonderful pairing, with the steak that I ordered medium rare and came out cooked to perfection. Amazingly, I still had room for dessert and the lavender creme brulee (also pictured) was a great finish to the meal. Compliments to the chef! Also, the pricing was very reasonable for the amazing fine dining experience that is provided here. I highly recommend The Press Room for a solo food adventure or for a date night!
