Popped in on a busy Sunday lunchtime, no booking. The staff were brilliant; found a nice spot and got drinks and the menu for us immediately. Surprisingly they were all cheerful, and the food was fairly quick. There was a choice of portion sizes as well as a good selection of Sunday roasts. The food came quicker than expected for a very busy day. Good selection of veg with well cooked staples. So we came to the preston gate inn on our last evening in Bude I wish we had come sooner. We started with the salt and chilli chicken wings. I don’t like meat on the bone and so haven’t eaten wings for years. These wings were FAB. I’ve never ever tasted anything like it!! They were the best chicken wings I’ve ever had and I’ll be hunting for recipes to try and replicate it!! We both then had a mixed meat roast. Pork was great but the beef was slightly dry. The gravy was absolutely divine, veg was great!! But no parsnips as described on the menu :( the kicker was the price of the drinks though maybe it’s my fault for not checking the price but £11+ for a double vodka and cranberry? I felt so guilty when we got the bill as my partner was paying for it and had essentially spent £22 on two drinks for me! I’m not sure if this is standard for Bude as we didn’t go for drinks anywhere else but back home a double vodka and cranberry would be no more than £7 :( The service was absolutely great though. Super friendly staff, massive garden, food tasted so fresh, place was very clean and the staff were super attentive. Lovely place, food was excellent we ate 3 times in a week . Staff were very efficient and friendly . Definitely recommend a visit
