Very nice venue in a cute terrasse house. The atmosphere is warm and cosy with leather sofas, dark-wooden tables and candle lights. Feels a bit like a travel back in time. I d give a 3.5 if I could We had 2 cocktails: the Paddington bear was a stand out. The cocktail list is not extensive but you can ask for the bartender to customise a drink, I just had a gin/cucumber - classic but delicious. We also had 2 share plates: the salmon was sold out so got seared scallops and duck confit, with roasted carrots. It was good, although a bit oily (carrots in particular). Nothing I will particularly remember. The serving sizes are not huge and I think overall the food is bit overpriced. It was a nice evening but did not stay too long as there was a private event in the function area that made the venue quite loud. I will try to come back during the week for 12$ cocktail wednesday. Definitely worth checking out
Really cool place in Paddington. We had many different cocktails and they were all great. The share plates are also very good - i had the largest gnocchi I ever had ( we could cut them into 4 fair pieces!) The layout is chic and cosy, perfect for a date. They also organize cocktail classes for groups, great plan for team buildings or birthday parties!
Upstairs from Durty Nelly's Guiness soaked Irish pub (which always seemed slightly incongruous amidst shiny Paddo boutiques) there's a new cocktail bar. On a Saturday night the place was 90% female and LOUD. Not due to the music, but a combo of wine fuelled gossiping and no soft surfaces made it impossible to communicate without shouting and gesticulating. It's lucky that the other senses were well catered for to offset the aural battering. On the visual side leather couches and stripped back decor gave the impression you were drinking cocktails in a wealthy friend's mansion, while the superb drinks menu drew several compliments. Small but well chosen beer selection is an aside to the excellent cocktails. They're not cheap averaging $18 but worth a trip if you're in the area. The food selection is mainly share plates; we tried the charcuterie plate which was great for 2-3 and of a similar high quality to the cocktails. Again, pricey though. Probably best recommended for a girls night out, well that's what the rest of the bar appeared to be. It's a bit loud for a date, but perhaps if you've had an argument and don't want to talk?
