After spending the day at Tanganyika Wildlife Park, Public at the Brickyard was the perfect way to end our evening in Wichita. From the outside, I never would have guessed how large the restaurant is. Inside, it's a beautiful blend of historic brick architecture, industrial charm, and a welcoming atmosphere. Even though there wasn't live music the night we visited, the restaurant was packed, and the energy made it a fun place to relax after a long day. We ordered the baby back ribs, which had just been added to the menu that evening. They were incredibly tender and practically melted off the bone. The baked beans had just the right amount of spice, the fries were perfectly cooked, and everything was served on simple metal trays that somehow felt both casual and upscale. For dessert, the Key Lime Pie Crème Brûlée was outstanding and the perfect finish to the meal. I also enjoyed trying a local cider on tap. What impressed me even more was learning how committed Public is to supporting local Kansas farmers and producers by sourcing ingredients locally and preparing so much from scratch. The service was friendly, we never felt rushed, and we left full, relaxed, and already talking about coming back. If you're visiting Wichita or staying in Old Town, I highly recommend making Public at the Brickyard part of your trip. It's an excellent local restaurant with great food, a unique atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30
