Our absolute favorite restaurant in Cancun.  Top notch service, best steak i have ever had.  Amazing wine list. Beautiful sunsets over the lagoon. Our son loved the tuna steak, the burger was amazing.  The deserts were delicious.  You can't go wrong at Puerto Madero.  (Hint: order the bone in rib eye for two and the Cesar salad for two.  You are welcome)
I came here on a trip with my sister for her birthday and we had quite a nice meal and experience. The restaurant is in the hotel zone so they try and upsell you on everything, but that seems to be pretty consistent across the board with a lot of restaurants in general. Both of us were very happy with our meals. I had the fettuccine ragout and spiced meat empanada as an appetizer. The empanada was underwhelming, but the fettuccine was wonderful. It was full of flavor and there was an proportionate amount of sauce for the pasta that didn't leave me with a stack of dry noodles. I was extremely pleased with the dish. My sister had the salmon tartare which she enjoyed, followed by the crab tortelloni. We split the soufflé potatoes which are evidently their specialty and they certainly did not disappoint. Wow! They were amazing and alone would have been worth the trip. It's obvious that the wine director took some great care with the menu as there were some fantastic selections to choose from, particularly if you're into Malbecs. There's quite a large selection from Mendoza. As for dessert, I really wanted to try their truffle cake, but decided against it after realizing that the restaurant does not make it's own ice cream and I really enjoy ice cream with almost any kind of cake. It's not a slight to the restaurant necessarily, it's just that I can get Haagen-Dazs at home. I opted for the crème brulee instead and it wasn't bad. My sister split it with me and thought the same. As I mentioned earlier, the soufflé potatoes alone seriously warrant a trip on their own merit. We had a really good time and I'd recommend the place if you're in the area.
