Punjab Kitchen wasn't good. I just don't understand how this place has so many positive reviews. The ambiance was terrible. It is in a strip mall which I don't mind but the restaurant itself looked like it was built in the 60's and was never taken care of. The interior walls needed painting, the floor was miserable, there were no tablecloths and they even skimped on silverware. It was dismal in there. The restaurant smelled more like some weird flowery chemical than it did of food. If the interior of a restaurant which guests are supposed to be seeing is looking so decrepit, I cringe to think what the kitchen looked like. The misery of a depressed room could be forgiven if the food was good, but the food was not. The breads were overcooked (who really wants slightly crunchy naan that has zero moisture in it?). The ingredients seemed to be low quality. The chutneys were at least a days old and honestly probably two days old. The rice was good. The meat (chicken, seafood, and pork) were over cooked and dry in all of our meals. The waitstaff - which consisted of one older guy who looked like he regretted every decision in his life that led up to him working at this place - was nice but "detached". He clearly was not into the job. He came around a few times during the meal to fill our water glasses though. His presence added to the overall gloom of Punjab Kitchen. I left the place feeling glad to be out of there. I wish I never went.
