It was a bit overprice and wine and food was just ok.
Nice place to have a good drink downtown Seattle:)
Let's face it, you probably decided to come here for the restaurant's magnificent spiral staircase. I don't blame you; it's quite a sight to see especially with all the vintage wines lined up from floor to ceiling. For the wine lover and connoisseur, Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is a dream come true. The restaurant was bustling when we arrived around dinner time so we were glad we managed to snag a reservation. We ordered the following: Mini Baked Brie - This seems to be a pretty popular dish to order here and for good reason too! The cheese arrives to you hot and melted along with caramelized onions and is encased inside a thin puff-like pastry. Accompanying the brie are some crackers for dipping into the brie along with thinly sliced grapes. All of these elements eaten together make for one dynamite appetizer! Flash-sauteed calamari - The squid was tender and succulent and came with San Marzano Tomatoes, chickpeas, capers and olives. However, the flavors were fairly simple and a tad bit forgettable. I'd skip ordering this. Uni spaghetti - This dish was actually part of their daily special and isn't on their menu. Although I'm not normally a fan of eating uni straight up, anything flavored with uni gets an A plus in my book! The flavors were complex--seafood-y and a little briny. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. And since we were at a wine bar, it wouldn't make sense to not enjoy some wine while we were there. I ordered the white trio flight featuring sweet white wines which came with an Italian Moscato, German Riesling and French Chenin Blanc. For a wine flight, I was impressed with the generosity of the pours. When my flight arrived, it looked more like I was getting 3 full glasses of wine, which I had no qualms over.
