Quinquela is a charming restaurant located on Rambla 25 de Agosto de 1825 in Montevideo's Old City, offering a picturesque view of the port and situated just a block away from the historic Mercado del Puerto. While it doesn't have a detailed presence on most popular restaurant directories, it has managed to garner some attention through a minimal Google profile.
The restaurant offers outdoor seating and dine-in options, creating an inviting environment for guests to enjoy its selection of dishes. Known for its ambiance, Quinquela features a bar on site and amenities such as a toilet, though Wi-Fi availability is uncertain. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its atmosphere and service, positioning it as a high-end dining option, but it's worth noting that feedback about the menu was mixed, with some standout dishes and others cited as needing improvement.
If you're planning on visiting, be aware that Quinquela operates until late evening from Thursday to Saturday, with earlier closing hours the rest of the week. There is free parking available, which makes it convenient for diners traveling by car. Payment options are somewhat limited, as debit cards are accepted, but there's no confirmation about credit card usage. The owner's lack of recent updates about new offerings or changes means potential visitors might benefit from checking current conditions before making the trip.

The good part: very diligent and pleasant server. The surprisingly bad part: this space is new and "designed" by someone...who apparently has never been inside an inviting modern restaurant. The room is cavernous, and instead of creating moments of coziness and visual interest (booths, nooks, etc), they just threw in a bunch of tables. It was like dining in an airport hangar. Very noisy too. The average part: the food. Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2

/. Located in Montevideo's Old City, across from the port and one block from the Mercado del Puerto (Port Market). Perfect ambiance, service, acoustics, and lighting. The welcome broth was spectacular; the pumpkin ravioli are a must. The Neapolitan milanesa and flan with dulce de leche were good, but could be improved. The golden sea bass was very tasty, but the accompanying cauliflower purée was too salty and overpowered it. Prices are high, in line with its premium profile. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $1,600–1,800 Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Paid parking lot Parking: Hay un parking cerrado a una cuadra gratuito si vas a Quinquela. / There is a free parking lot one block away if you go to Quinquela.
