Chef Wong at Racines is no ordinary Chef. He’s constantly innovating his menu, using his talent fully, which is why I absolutely had to compliment his new menu, based on fresh, flavoursome, traditional ingredients and spices which are truly unique and incredibly put together(think Nyonyan style, I’m sure these are well guarded family recipes), going from what was already incredible cuisine to his latest menu is something every food lover in Singapore should experience, I just tried the Penang style Rojak fruit salad followed by arguably a dish I won’t forget, the Nyonya assam curry snapper (OMG it’s made its way into my “last meals” list), Chef Wong these dishes are so truly special — congratulations, thank you, and I can’t wait to work my way through your menu Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Limited buffet variety of food and no salmon sashimi (only smoked salmon and duck). Notable dishes were cold lobsters, fresh oysters and a cooked sea cucumber dish that was nice. We went for cny lunch buffet at 1 for 1. It started a little late from 1230pm and most of us were hungry. The staff did not clear our dishes and we placed it on the table behind us. We had a lovely dining experience at RACINES. The space is elegant yet comfortable, with warm lighting and a sophisticated ambience that makes it suitable for both special occasions and relaxed catch-ups. For mains, I had the chicken, while my friend went for the duck, and we also shared the ngoh hiang as a starter. The chicken was tender and well-balanced with its sauce, the duck had beautifully crisp skin with rich flavour, and the ngoh hiang was nicely executed — crisp on the outside and refined in presentation. The cocktails were refreshing and complemented the meal well. What truly elevated the evening was Rey’s service. He was attentive, personable, and genuinely present throughout our meal. He checked in thoughtfully, ensured everything was in order, and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere at our table. It’s that level of personalised care that makes a difference, and Rey absolutely deserves recognition. That said, our interaction with Vincent felt noticeably less welcoming. At one point, his demeanour came across as rather disengaged, and we quietly told Rey that if Vincent was perhaps having a tough day, we would prefer that he not be the one serving our dishes. Hospitality is not just about delivering food — it’s about presence, energy, and warmth. A simple smile can make a meaningful difference in the dining experience. I share this as constructive feedback, as consistency in service would truly match the high standards of the food and setting. Overall, RACINES delivers beautifully on cuisine and ambience — and when service shines, it elevates everything. We’ll certainly be back. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
