Located on the way to Gotokuji Temple, RARASAND is a cozy café and small art gallery that makes for a fun and relaxing stop before visiting the temple. The space has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with Lucky Cat (maneki neko) themed decorations and souvenirs filling the shop, which fits perfectly with the area’s connection to the famous beckoning cats of Gotokuji. Their signature menu item is the Lucky Cat baby castella, available with fillings such as custard cream or red bean paste. We tried the matcha latte set together with both the custard cream and red bean paste versions. The castella are playful in appearance but also satisfying as a light snack. The café offers both indoor and outdoor seating, so it works equally well whether you want to relax for a bit or simply grab something to go on the way to the temple. The friendly staff also added to the experience, and some were able to communicate in English, which makes the shop especially approachable for international visitors. A charming stop for anyone visiting Gotokuji, especially if you’re a fan of Lucky Cats or looking for a small snack and drink in a cozy setting.
