It was just too incredible not to share so I’m quietly posting this in English. This was truly one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. The chef’s creativity is extraordinary. We had chocolate infused with kuromoji, pasta and tortillas made with organically grown wheat, eggs laid that very morning by silky-feathered chickens, local vegetables from Gujo, venison, ayu (sweetfish), wild mushrooms, and even homemade rice paper that I had never seen anything like before. Every single dish was incredibly thoughtful and beautifully crafted. The sauces and toppings were not just decorative—they were all unique, carefully considered, and absolutely delicious. You can feel the enormous amount of time, care, and craftsmanship that goes into every plate. That obsession just spills out of the food. The chef has an incredible ability to make the most of every ingredient, with almost nothing going to waste. The dishes feel deeply connected to the land of Gujo, while still being completely original and unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere. It was so delicious that I was genuinely moved. So moved, in fact, that my respect for the chef reached a whole new level and I nearly passed out from sheer admiration. And the non-alcoholic drink selection was wonderful as well. Nothing felt like an afterthought. There is also a beautiful story behind the restaurant. It was originally a traditional Japanese coffee shop run by a couple, and their son now runs a coffee shop in Gujo. The specialty coffee served after the meal comes from his coffee shop. I loved that connection—from the former owners, to their son, to this restaurant, and to the ingredients from Gujo itself. A truly unique dining experience where the food, the people, and the land all feel beautifully connected. Absolutely unforgettable. Japanese French fusion - Ravi restaurant is a must do for foodies when visiting Gujo. Each course was artistically presented and a delight to the palette. The Chef explained each course and his team were very welcoming creating a relaxed atmosphere. The local venison was delicious. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
