I came to this restaurant for the first time with no expectations but was thoroughly impressed. While I typically do not enjoy pork dishes, their signature braised pork belly was surprisingly delicious! The rice was nicely coated in a soy sauce that wasn't too salty, and the pork belly was incredibly soft and perfectly cooked. Best of all, it didn’t smell gamey. We also ordered the traditional stir-fried chicken in a clay pot rice. I preferred this one a bit less because the meat was a little dry. However, both dishes came out sizzling hot, and the ingredients were substantial. If I lived closer, I would definitely purchase their $20 membership, which allows you to knock a few dollars off your bill here and there. There’s no discount for paying by cash; no worries though. The only downside was the temperature inside; it was a bit dense since the weather was around 38°C outside. The air felt stagnant, and I really wish they had a fan running, as it felt a bit suffocating at times. I was sweating buckets while eating. That said, I would absolutely come back. The decor is eclectic, and despite the heat, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

This place is a great and affordable dinner option especially if you buy the VIP membership. Loved the decor. The food was pretty good and service was attentive. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I recently visited Rice & Flame and had a mixed experience. The Imperial Buddha’s Feast Pot Rice was a personal favourite. It had a lighter, more subtle flavour profile that I really enjoyed, though it might not appeal as much to those who prefer stronger, bolder tastes. The Spicy Mapo Tofu Pot Rice tasted great but was overly saucy and needed more rice for balance. The Golden Satay Beef Pot Rice was disappointing. The beef wasn’t as tender as expected, and the tendon was quite tough to chew. For appetizers, the Marinated Crunchy Jellyfish tasted fine, but the portion felt lacking as there simply wasn’t enough jellyfish to make it satisfying. On the other hand, the Crispy Pork Intestines were good. The exterior was crispy, and it tasted great with the spicy seasoning. The restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere, with nice interior decor and comfortable seating, making it a good spot to dine in. Service started well but ended on a negative note, as staff became rude when we were trying to get the bill. Overall, some solid dishes but inconsistent execution and service. Wow, this is a full-on review — we appreciate you taking the time to share all this Sounds like we had some hits and some misses that day. Glad the Buddha’s Feast and crispy intestines made the cut, but we hear you on the balance, portions, and especially the beef texture — those are on our radar now. Service-wise, that’s on us. Even if there was any miscommunication, it shouldn’t have left you with that feeling. We’ve already reminded the team that every table deserves a proper “start to finish” experience. We’ll keep tweaking and improving — next time, hopefully it’s less “mixed” and more “all good things”
