It is a friendly pub. The pint of Rhwmney Export that I had was one of the best kept beers I have had for a while. Price per person: £1–10

I went there yesterday lunchtime, and despite the sign outside stating 'Traditional Cooked Meals', the barmaid tersely told me they weren't serving food. She then randomly reeled off names. When I asked her what she was referring to, she told me it was cafes nearby. Seriously? This is no way to treat customers! She even made a feeble, sarcastic remark behind my back as I was leaving. Totally unprofessional, particularly for what appeared to be just an average pub. I visit Risca many times, and will continue to eat at other venues who know how to treat their customers. Avoid this 'pub'.
