A very nice place with good food, and honestly... decent prices for the experience. I'm glad they rebranded their offerings and style of dining. Merced wasn't quite ready for the prior, higher end only fixed high end dining. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

If you haven’t checked out Rainbird inside the El Capitan Hotel yet, you are seriously missing out on a downtown Merced gem. The historic hotel itself is stunning, and walking into the restaurant feels like stepping into a chic, intimate space that somehow still feels totally grounded and welcoming. The food here is delicious, starting with their salads which are always super crisp and refreshing. But as someone who doesn’t mind giving in to carbs, their pancakes and french toast are always a good choice. It's easily one of our best local spots for treating yourself to a gorgeous meal right in the heart of town. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30
