Mr Stephen smokes the most flavorful brisket and chickens I've ever had in the state of Texas. I've been eating off a tender, moist, and flavorful brisket I picked up last week and I just cannot get tired of it. Today I chopped up a portion of brisket and spread the tender, moist pieces across the top of a very large chopped romaine & spinach salad. I then sprinkled some chopped grape tomatoes over that, then lightly drizzled a balsamic dressing over this huge meal..... it was to die for! I'm so full, but my taste buds want more......
Great BBQ in Kilgore- something besides bodacious, which isn't the friendliest place to go anymore. My husband and I love their young daddy plate and split it between us. It's always perfectly enough and the taste is great. We love it when we drive by and smell his yummy food smoking in the smoker!
I hate to give them three stars, but it must be done. One star was taken away due to the customer service. As I approached the woman owner just stared at me through the screen window. I had to ask "are y'all open?" for her to say something to me. I am not sure, but it was strange. Especially since the patrons that walked up as I was leaving she gave a big greeting. I had arrived at almost 2pm and they were out of everything except chicken, pulled pork, and hot links. And the only sides left were cucumber salad, one serving of potato salad, and chips. I opted for the two meat plate, chicken and hot links and the potato salad and cucumber salad. I arrived home and ate and immediately was turned off from the potato salad. It was missing something very serious, but I couldn't put my finger on what! Hence the 2nd star being removed. To prevent me from being a straight carnivore, I ate a bite of the salad followed quickly with a bite of meat to babe flavor, I'm not kidding. I live in Tyler, so the odds of this being a regular choice is slim, but I'm willing to give them another chance on another meat and sides, hopefully I will have a warmer greeting.
