Unfortunately I cannot recommend The Red Cow Inn. It is a grave shame, because the food when served is actually fantastic, great quality and generous portions. However, the reason is that they are unorganised and it lead to a disaster this evening when we dined. We booked a table for 1900 hrs and arrived about 10 minutes before and purchased drinks before being seated to our table, we were not provided with menus, we had to get these ourselves. We placed our order and another table came in after we ordered our food and sat behind us. It took a while which is fine in most circumstances as appreciate the food is freshly cooked, but at around 1945 hrs food came out and to our surprise it was for the table behind us who wasn't even seated when we ordered! My other half worked out what had occurred and it unfolded, they had served 3 of our 5 meals to the wrong table, I think staff eventually realised their mistake, but was not forthcoming or open in telling us, they served the other 2 meals to our table and we were sat with no communication to what was going on, a waiter then started to take orders of complimentary drinks for the table that had effectively taken our food! This was enough, we were not happy with the situation so informed staff we would be leaving so as to limit waste of further food. It's a first for us to enter an establishment and leave without even eating. We travelled approx 25 miles for this meal which was for my mother's birthday, the evening was ruined. On previous visits, we enjoyed food and I have personally recommended to my friends in the area. I see you are responsive to comments and reviews, I appreciate it's not a positive review, but without receiving reviews which are negative, you won't know on what to improve on. I would recommend working on how orders and tables are managed. When you dine in some establishments, one member of staff is responsible for the table and this then ensures consistency and continuity to the service offered, unfortunately at the Red Cow, I feel too many staff are involved and that's why there is a lack of communication and it leads to situations like what happened this evening, not that I have experienced this before!

Lovely grub! We had Sunday lunch here and it was delicious! Big helpings and lots of custard to go with the lovely puddings that they serve for dessert.
A friendly welcome and excellent service. Recommended
