After taking the gondola up to Maokong, we decided to stop here for lunch. The interior is filled with beautiful raw wood tables and chairs, and has an amazing view of Taipei. The restaurant owner was inviting and warm, and was very helpful with our baby and when we were ordering. The menu is quite extensive, so it took us a little while to decide what we wanted. We ordered the drunken chicken with tea oil, the sweet and sour pork, and fern with bonito flakes. The fern and drunken chicken with tea oil were dishes we had never tried before, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked them. It was a very relaxing experience, and helped us continue on our adventure in Maokong. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: NT$200–400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We spent a few hours here, both at the restaurant upstairs and the teahouse downstairs. Food and tea were both great. Atmosphere is very relaxing. On a cloudy and rainy day this place is tranquil. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Redwood Tea House in Maokong is a relaxing place to stop after riding the gondola and exploring the area. It’s the restaurant below Mountain Tea House. The atmosphere is calm and perfect for slowing down over tea and food. We particularly liked their stir-fry beef, which was flavorful and well cooked, and paired nicely with the tea. The creamy custard bun was a disappointment though as the filling wasn’t creamy at all, though it tasted just right. Redwood Tea House is a comfortable spot to rest, enjoy the mountain views, and experience Maokong’s tea culture. Overall, a pleasant and satisfying visit.
