It was my first meal in Valencia last week. The host was welcoming and kind. The staff was efficient. The food is a very balanced mixture of traditional dish fused with influences from Asia and the Americas. I am really glad that this is my first impression of the Valencia food. Loved our meal in Refugio last night! We booked online and were greeted warmly by the host. He explained the menu consists of plates for sharing so we chose 4 dishes which were generous portions; you could manage with 3 between 2 people! We had the Vietnamese rolls, the shrimp gyozas, the pulled pork and the angus steak. All the dishes were tasty and presented thoughtfully. They have a great wine list; we chose a Muga rose. For dessert, the host suggested trying the ice-cream flavoured with cheese from the Basque country with garam-masala and tamarind sauce. We were apprehensive but it was delightful!
