# Remedy Hall – Comfort, Texas **** There's a particular kind of magic that happens when you walk into a place you've never heard of, in a town you didn't plan to visit, and find exactly what you didn't know you were looking for. Remedy Hall is that place. My wife and I had just finished an outstanding dinner at Both Hands Burger Bar next door and figured we'd wander down the block for a nightcap. One block from our hotel at the Giles. No agenda. No expectations. Just a couple of vodka tonics and maybe some background noise. What we got was Fuego. Three gray-haired rockers who looked like they'd been playing together since the music actually mattered. And here's the thing about musicians with gray hair: they've got nothing left to prove. No ego. No posturing. Just decades of playing distilled into pure, uncut competence. These guys covered everything from the '60s through the '70s and somehow landed in 1992 before the night was over. Each one of them could sing—really sing—and they passed the vocals around like a conversation between old friends. But when they hit those three-part harmonies? That's when you stop talking to your wife and just listen. The drinks were honest. Vodka and tonics with an appropriate amount of kick, poured generously by staff who seemed genuinely happy to be there on a Saturday night. Our bar tab for the evening came to twenty-seven dollars. I checked the receipt twice. Twenty-seven dollars for a night of live music this good, in a space that wasn't overcrowded, with people who treated us like regulars even though we'd never set foot in the place before. That's not a bar tab. That's a theft. Comfort, Texas has no business being this good. It's a small town off the beaten path where nothing's supposed to happen. But Remedy Hall didn't get the memo. They're doing it right—great music, fair prices, warm atmosphere, and a staff that understands hospitality isn't a transaction. We're already planning our next trip back, specifically to catch Fuego again. If you're anywhere near the Hill Country and you see their name on a schedule, adjust your plans accordingly.
