I visited Residents Cafe & Bar on 4/4/26 around 5:30 PM with a group of four women, and the experience was extremely off-putting. When we arrived, we asked for a table for four and were asked if we had reservations. We said no, and the hostess informed us that all patio tables were reserved but she could seat us—however, we’d need to be finished by 7:30 PM due to a reservation. We agreed, and she told us to go wait at the bar while she got our table. We waited about 7–8 minutes. During that time, we saw an open table near the bar marked “reserved,” so we stayed nearby assuming she would come get us as instructed. Instead, she came over and told us the table was reserved—as if we had just sat ourselves—without acknowledging that she told us to wait. When we reminded her that she had just spoken with us and told us she would get us a table, she then asked again if we had a reservation. At that point, we were confused because we had literally just had that conversation with her minutes earlier. She even asked for a reservation name again, and we had to repeat that we had already spoken to her. Only then did she say “oh,” but still seemed unsure and disorganized. It got to the point where my friend had to directly ask if there was actually a table available, because her behavior made it seem like there suddenly wasn’t. I also want to be clear: we were a group of four Black women. The fact that she could not remember speaking to us just minutes prior felt dismissive and concerning. It left a very sour impression. We were eventually seated, but the interaction was so uncomfortable and poorly handled that we chose to leave shortly after. Overall, the lack of organization, communication, and basic attentiveness at the host stand really impacted our experience. I hope this is addressed, because no one should feel overlooked like that when simply trying to dine out. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5

The young lady you spoke of, just started working her first hosting position tonight, about an hour prior to your arrival.
