Special visiting chef meal...over the top !
I honestly never post online reviews, but this was such a bad experience that I felt compelled to...To begin, we had switched over from Mi Amor’s sister property, Hotel Mezzanine. Since we left Mezzanine in tears, we were optimistic that our stay at Mi Amor could only go up from here. We were so wrong. In the beginning, our stay was satisfactory. The hotel manager, Simon, brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon, and helped us set up a local excursion. We really enjoyed the tour, beach view outside our room, and hotel scenery. That night we started to see slight negatives during our stay. We called the front desk to heat up our amazing private hot tub and were told they would send someone right away. An hour later the hot tub was still cold. We had to call 3 times before it finally got done, but figured it was an honest mistake. The next morning we went to breakfast at the hotel since it was included in our “Virtuoso hotel rate”. (Let me mention when you book Virtuoso, free breakfast is always included. The 3 prior Virtuoso hotels we stayed at on this trip provided us with delicious, unlimited breakfast every morning). Unfortunately Mi Amor limited how much could be ordered and made us pay for our water! We understand putting a limit on things, but we felt at a minimum, water should be included at a luxury hotel you’re paying $700/ night for! We tried not to let it bother us and went on with our breakfast. Halfway through our meal, a staff member, Mario, came over to us to confirm our shuttle transportation we were taking later that day. We used Mi Amor’s shuttle service to get to the hotel and were also using it to get to our next location. Then Mario said when we paid the driver 2 days ago, we shorted him $10. I quickly corrected him and said we in fact gave the driver an EXTRA $10 as a tip!! HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND FLAT OUT RUDE TO ACCUSE YOUR HOTEL GUESTS OF NOT PAYING?!? This was 2 days after the fact and they had no receipts to prove this absurd claim. That was the final straw. We were so disgusted by them. Needless to say, we did not use their services and were so happy to be leaving. Thanks to our travel agent, we were able to spend the rest of our time in Mexico at The Viceroy Resort and had an amazing time. All in all, Colibri Boutique Hotels IS THE WORST HOTEL CHAIN WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT. STAY AWAY. Mezzanine and Mi Amor were horrible experiences! Expensive prices do not equate to luxury.
The best breakfast and service and view and privacy
