This place is like a cafeteria and was the only place I ate in Costa Rica (for 9 days) that gave me "the craps." I was a bit nervous that it happened the morning I was doing my first surf lesson. Luckily I had pepto and did okay at the lesson. The food tasted okay but was not as good as nearly all of the food I ate in Costa Rica. Only one place was worse - the Hilton Hotel at the mall in San Jose. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

the old Rusticos was so much better, new location is insanely hot. The food isn't what it once was, mediocre effort nowadays a lot of sodas are better, with deep regret, 4 stars. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

We tried Restaurante Rústicos for dinner because it seemed like a spot locals actually go to, and it didn’t disappoint. There’s a big variety of dishes — chicken, beef, seafood, and even some local options I hadn’t seen anywhere else, like banana ceviche. Everything is very affordable, drinks come with free refills, and the whole place has a relaxed, no‑frills atmosphere. A great choice if you want something tasty, local, and low‑key.
