Came about 1300h. Had a phone reservation prior. Ordered the typical Peranakan dishes for 6 paxs. Food came promptly. All dishes were tasty & flavorful. Portions were reasonably adequate for 6 sharing. Duck meat & sour veggie soup was surprisingly delectable! A sumptuous meal! During our North-South road trip more than half a year ago, we stopped by Baba Ang not knowing that reservation is required. However, the owner is so friendly and managed to get us a table for 2. We truly appreciate the hospitality showered onto us. The nyonya food here is far more authentic and palatable than many other nyonya restaurants in the tourist hot spot. Personally, i would love the Lemak Udang Nenas even more if the udang is not soggy. RM70 per person for a 3-dish meal inclusive of appetizer & dessert, in a Nyonya Restaurant, is surprisingly reasonable. We will surely stop by again in our next road trip, but with reservation, of course Meal type: Lunch Price per person: RM 60–80 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Hands down, Restoran Baba Ang delivered the best Peranakan meal of my Malacca trip. The place is wildly popular—reservations are a must—and we were lucky to snag a last-minute slot. The food was packed with flavour, and the Peranakan-themed decor added to the charm. Rendang Ayam (RM 55) – Absolute standout. Rich, spicy, creamy gravy with deeply infused flavours. If can lick the plate clean, I will. Lemak Udang Nenas (RM 58) – Creamy pineapple prawn curry with juicy heads and sweet tang. Kari Kepala Ikan (RM 55) – Nyonya-style fish head curry, spicy and tangy with fresh, fleshy fish and well-cooked crunchy veggies. Just a little unsure which way they going as it sits between assam and nyonya taste. Sayur Chap Chai (RM 28) – Stewed mixed vegetables, savoury and well-balanced. Cendol Baba Ang (RM 8) – Rich gula melaka, vibrant toppings, and creamy coconut milk. A must-eat classic. Lemon Lychee Soda (RM 9) – Fizzy and refreshing. Lemongrass (RM 6) – Chilled and aromatic. Soursop/Guava Juice (RM 9) – Standard but satisfying. Nasi (RM 3/pax) – Fragrant white rice to soak up all that gravy goodness. A truly tastisfying experience—flavours, textures, and ambience all hit the mark. Definitely worth a return.
