Came across this joint the other day through social media. Saw some picture of their food being posted on Instagram and through WeChat foodie groups. Picture looked good and review sounded alright so decided to give it a go. Went there for lunch with my partner and upon arriving the shop was rather empty (I believe it's due to the shop being located on a rather busy street with high traffic.) parkings can be found close by in the local area. Not far from the shop just a short walk. The moment we arrived we were greeted by the staff at the front bar/ counter. Seated and provided us with their food menu. As we were looking through the menu and asking about the food we saw on social media we found out that they have two seperate menu. One for lunch and one for dinner. They also do "chef designed menu" which is like an omakase style menu where the chef will come up with a menu using the season's available ingredient cater to the amount of patrons. Will definitely be trying that service in the near future because the pictures looks really good. We decided to order a couple of dishes. The food came out rather quick. Service was very attentive and food turned out to be great! I ordered a lunch set menu with chicken liver on toast as entree, and a grilled beef fillets with salad on side. Their salad dressing is beautiful. However the salad does have some shredded cheese mixed through it which is hard to be seen so for those who would like it dairy free please inform the staff. My partner order the satay beef brisket hofun soup (flat rice noodle soup) and we also order a side dish of their braised pork mix. The braised pork mix was absolutely delightful. Texture was spot on and flavour was well balanced. The satay beef brisket hofun soup was also very tasty. There's a lot of other items that we would love to try so we will definitely be back. Keep up the good work guys! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Venue: Plenty of free carparks at rear. Causal setting with simple decoration. Not packed. Have a long bar counter. Pop songs. You can watch Hong Kong TV shows there. Two tables of chess (康樂棋) for guests to play (free of charge). There were also some interesting display items. Usually quiet. But became lively when 6-7 kids were playing around (3 families with kids were there) last visit. --- 7.4/10 Service: Very friendly owner Marco and staff. But not attentive enough (probably having many customers unexpectedly). Needed to ask for more utensils and serviette (as we were having a whole crab dish). Tap water was given upon request or available near the kitchen. Usually, basic cutlery and serveitte were already placed on each table. -- 7.4/10 F&B: Chinese menu is available. Provides Western and Asian cuisine in Hong Kong style, but limited choices. Tailor-made/ Omakase menu is available (pre-ordered your preferences). Normal presentation. Normal portion. Acceptable prices. Friends invited us to taste the omakase menu. All dishes are not on the menu: - Oden 關東煮: There were Daikon, tofu, fishcake, and konjac (摩芋絲) in clear soup. Better if they can deeper conditioner. Tender radish. --- 6.7/10 - Sashimi: a large prawn, a scallop, and 2 slics of cured salmon. Nice presentation. Fresh. --- 7.9/10 - Cooked Whelk with Sake wine 清酒煮螺: Few whelks (shelled) were chewy. --- 6/10 - Curry Crab bread 咖喱麵包蟹: one blue swimming crabs with mild spicy curry sauce in a crispy bread (not homemade). Another crab was placed in another plate. The curry was mild spicy and yummy, but not enough. The shells of crab pincers wasn't broken so the the crabmeat in pincers was unable to absorb the curry sauce well. They should have given us eating-crab tools or and wet tissues. --- 7.8/10 - Japanese Gomoku Mixed Rice 五目炊飯: There was chicken, Shiitake mushrooms, carrot and bean curd sheets. The ingredients were cut into various sizes. Tasty. --- 8/10 - Shabu-shabu: not a real Japanesehotpot. There was sliced beef, 1 egg, 1-2 slices of Japanese fishcakes, a lot of Chinese cabbage and white beech mushrooms in a big claypot. The soup was too salty to me. Beef was very tender. The pot was big and one egg wasn't enough. --- 7/10 - Tempura fish & chicken Perilla leaves : Crispy batter. Thin layer of Fish & chicken paste were between 2 Perilla leaves. The filling was oo thin. Too much mayo on the bottom for my liking, but mtched with this Tempura. Overall, delicious. --- 8.3/10 - Chinese sweet soup: Purple glutinous rice in coconut milk 椰汁紫米露. Served slightly warm /cold. Not overly sweet. Popular Hong Kong desserts. --- 6/10 - Chinese Herbal sparkling water. 2nd visit, Omakase $75pp: - Free housemade Char-siu: chewy. Not so tasty. --- 5.5/10 - Tempura Eel: served with seaweed and mayo. --- 7/10 - Chaozhou style marinated Raw Crab潮州生醃蟹: tasted better than Korean style raw crab. --- 7.5/10 - Crab and fish Rice in Claypot: The rice was mushy. Not much fish. Crab was served separately --- 6/10 - Mussels with Tomato sauce --6.5/10 - Watercress in Fish broth西洋菜魚湯: ok -- 7/10 - Pepper Prawns in flame: salty for my liking. Gimmicks to set the fire. The Butter didn't melt completely. --- 6/10 - Chicken Claypot 啫啫雞煲: not so authentic, but pretty good. --- 7.7/10 - Snowy Egg White with Crabmeat & Crab roe 蟹粉賽螃蟹 --- 7.3/10 Meal type: Dinner

This newly opened branch of a bar in Hay Street is indeed unique in North Perth. In this “cappuccino strip”, Retro 2 offers you an exotic Asian option. Egg noodles are great, and the home-made chilli sauce is a great addition. Keep up the good work! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–40
