Retro Rolls offers a unique spin on the traditional Vietnamese banh mi stores you usually find around NSW. Tucked away in Newcastle, it was the perfect spot for us to try while visiting the area. My partner and I ordered the New York Classic Reuben and the Pork Belly Banh Mi. The Pork Belly Banh Mi was packed with flavour, but unfortunately the toppings to bread ratio was quite poor. It felt like most of the time we were eating more bread than actual fillings, which was a bit of a let down because we were really enjoying the flavours. As for the Classic Reuben, we found the ratio to be quite similar to the pork belly, but we both loved the unique flavour it offered and would definitely recommend it. For anyone visiting Newcastle it is still worth checking out, but hopefully in the future the toppings are a bit more generous or a different type of bread is used so it does not take away from all the great flavours. Price per person: $40–60 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
