The interior of Rinsuke
Rinsuke is a Japanese restaurant situated on Uchiko's storied street near the local landmark Uchikoza Theatre. Visitors often mention its casual atmosphere despite an initially imposing entrance, making it a comfortable spot for a relaxed meal. Rinsuke has garnered attention for serving a unique version of tai-meshi, a regional dish that features fresh sea bream sashimi over rice, complemented by raw egg and delicate seasonings. This flavorful dish is well paired with various beverages and is a highlight on both the lunch and dinner menus, though availability can vary based on demand.

The restaurant operates Monday through Sunday, excluding Wednesday, from late morning until early evening, though exact timings may vary. There are no dedicated parking facilities; however, nearby town parking is within a short walking distance. It is advisable to clarify payment options as credit cards are not acceptable, and some patrons have mentioned the availability of PayPay. Although featured in guides like Michelin, the absence of recent management updates suggests that some aspects could have changed over time. Rinsuke's current status and other offerings remain largely unknown due to a lack of recent reviews and information from the owners.

I went to "Rinsuke" in Uchiko-cho, Kita-gun, Ehime Prefecture for lunch alone on a Sunday around 13:50. Uchiko Town flourished mainly in the production of wax from the latter half of the Edo period to the Meiji period, and buildings from those times remain, and for this reason it has been selected as a nationally important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings and has a splendid townscape. The Uchiko-za theater that was built and where Kabuki and Noh are still performed still remains, and after watching that, I visited Rinsuke Similar to Ozu City, I was able to rent a bicycle from JR Uchiko Station for 500 yen for 3 hours, so I was able to sightsee efficiently. The lunch time at this "Rinsuke" was from 11:30 to 14:00, so it was just the last minute. The reason I chose this restaurant was because it was written in the Uchiko Town guidebook that it was listed in the Michelin Star. When you enter the premises, the store is not directly ahead, but on the left. When I told them that I came alone, there was an empty seat, so I sat in the two-person tatami room on the left. The inside of the store is bright and beautiful Even at this time, about half of the seats were occupied, so it was a popular restaurant. Also, there are many colored papers of famous people posted on them, as you would expect from a Michelin restaurant. Looking at the guidebook and menu, it seems that this restaurant's recommended dish is 1,100 yen (tax included) for sea bream rice, so I order that I was surprised that the sea bream rice was delivered relatively quickly in about 3 minutes early! What's more, 8 pieces of relatively large red sea bream sashimi are placed in a petal shape in a large bowl, and the yolk of a raw egg is placed in the center of the petals, making it beautiful! As expected, the red sea bream was also crystal clear Add condiments such as white sesame seeds, chopped black seaweed, wasabi, and sauce to your taste, and enjoy delicious sea bream rice Ah, the red sea bream sashimi is delicious, and the combination of raw egg and sauce makes it a masterpiece As expected, this is Nanyo's famous sea bream rice We also had salt-grilled red sea bream, and the miso soup was sweet and delicious with a good dashi soup I think this luxurious sea bream rice is quite cost-effective at 1,100 yen including tax. The sea bream rice at Rinsuke is delicious and highly recommended, as expected from a Michelin restaurant! Next time I would like to try other menu items Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
