My friends and I felt like having Italian food one evening and surprised me with their choice of restaurant. These two owners of Marzitelli are both scammers, had frauded people in the GTA/Toronto area for thousands of dollars! They had stolen furniture and other items from a nice couple I know, who owned the property. They didn't pay their rent and ran away one day, closing their Marzitelli restaurant in Toronto and now they opened up the same restaurant here in Ottawa! Prior to this, he apparently had opened up another restaurant with his friends, where he also frauded them and had a lawsuit. He used to fight with his wife in front of customers, which is very unprofessional. Despite the unprofessional behavior, the food was mediocre. Our Margherita pizza's crust was a bit hard and a bit burnt/overcooked and lacked in flavour, pretty bland in taste. Was expecting more after reading the good reviews. The dessert (tiramisu) and drinks were pretty good though and the server was friendly. I was shocked to see that these people are here in Ottawa and that he's still screaming at his wife in front of everybody. He did the same thing in Toronto. He has a bad temper and can be agressive and rude. None the less, I hope that justice will be served. Terrible, terrible food! Advertising truffle mashed potatoes and getting a scoop of cold instant mashed! What!? I never do reviews but people should know. Rude service (owner) and awful sound system for the live entertainment.
