But sadly, the reality is far from it. This restaurant is not located in a commercial or tourist-friendly area; instead, it’s situated in the village of Panakot on the Dir–Chitral Road (National Highway 45), where even the rent is very low. The owner of this restaurant, who is reportedly affiliated with a well-known political figure with a history of exploiting the Dir Bala region, is shamelessly overcharging innocent travelers. The prices are absurd and the value is shockingly low. Some examples: The same saag (spinach curry) that you can get for Rs. 100 at nearby eateries is sold here for Rs. 500. Dum Pukht (a traditional meat and potato dish), which includes just a single piece of meat and two large potatoes, is charged at Rs. 800, while it typically costs around Rs. 300 elsewhere. It appears that the sole motive of this restaurant is not to serve quality food, but to exploit travelers out of sheer greed. The food isn’t of high quality, the portions are not satisfying, and the prices are nothing short of extortion. The owner is using political influence to create a local monopoly, which is deeply unfortunate and a disservice to the rich tradition of hospitality in the region. Recommendation:.
