I’ve been to Roji close to 10 times since they opened. It was fun, fresh, and exciting at first, but unfortunately, the novelty has worn off. Dinner is 12 courses, usually including a salad (which, to be fair, is amazing), followed by 11 individual pieces of sushi. And to echo other reviews: you will very likely leave hungry. That honestly wouldn’t be so bad if dinner didn’t take close to TWO HOURS. Expect to wait at least five minutes between pieces. If you’ve had omakase literally anywhere else, you know how ridiculous that is. What makes it more frustrating is that the pacing feels completely avoidable. I’ve had three different chefs here, and while they’re all friendly, they’re also very chatty, often at the expense of actually preparing the next course. Overall, I’d recommend Roji to sushi lovers who have never experienced omakase before. It’s still a cute date night and worth trying once. But if you’re more experienced with omakase, the time, price, and portion size are hard to justify. Once you’ve had omakase in Miami, NYC, or hell, even KANSAS CITY, you’ll wonder why you spent two hours and hundreds of dollars just to leave hungry and go find your actual dinner afterward. An absolutely amazing dinner. For anyone wanting an authentic Japanese omakase-style experience, this is THE place. This place will have you fully appreciate how high the bar can be for achieving excellent sushi. I will also mention I appreciated the ambient music being played on the vinyl record player.
