I’ve been dining at Roxanne for two years now, and it still remains as the most unique dining experience I’ve had. Chef Alex makes edible portraits—the culmination of each dish acts as an art gallery. Her style is clear and decisive: sophistication with whimsy and powerful commentary. To start, her baguette is arguably the best you can get in the city, which showcases her mastery in French technique. During the course of dinner, you can consistently rely on moments of nostalgia. For me, it was the English pea, cream and morel dish, as I often ate butter with peas as a child. Chef Alex will also challenge your senses and trick your brain when it comes to visuals—a dish may appear as something you know, but in actuality, the presentation cosplays what you end up tasting. Most recently, it was her melon and crab tartlet, which appeared to be cubed pieces of translucent gelatin fruit candy, but in fact was sweet melon. As always, the service staff was kind, and they were prompt to whisk away empty plates and utensils. I also have to add that the music is always on point during dinner service. I already can’t wait to go back again. Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Philadelphia is lucky to have Roxanne. This was, without question, the best meal I’ve eaten all year. The sun gold tomatoes were so good they made me want to slap my mother. The pork chop had absolutely no business being that insanely delicious. Every course arrived with the kind of confidence that only comes from a chef operating at the height of their craft. What makes Roxanne special isn’t just the food—it’s the way Chef Alex continues to blur the line between dining and art. The meal feels less like a restaurant experience and more like an invitation into someone’s creative process. Thoughtful without being precious, ambitious without being self-important, and executed with a level of care that is increasingly rare. Philadelphia is fortunate to have a restaurant willing to push the boundaries of what a meal can be while remaining deeply hospitable and genuinely enjoyable. Roxanne isn’t following trends or chasing relevance. It’s creating something entirely its own. A remarkable meal from a remarkable chef. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
