Only drank here, did not get food. Staff were really nice and chatty. It had a really friendly and inviting atmosphere. We sat in two couches, looking at the bar. Would get a 5 star if it wasn't for the price of drinks. However I understand it was comparable prices to other lake district pubs. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We love visiting the Royal Oak on our days off! The staff are always super friendly! Nothing is too much trouble. I had the katsu chicken and my husband had the salt and pepper chick. The chef was a bit tight on the katsu sauce, but when we asked the lady on the bar she rectified it immediately. Amazing value for money especially in the heart of Ambleside! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
