First night off in over two weeks so we decided to try the new Rustic Cafe in Belgrave. Three mains and three large sides for $90? Crazy talk. But every single dish was brilliant! Even the bread was good. Do yourself a favour and try it out. The salmon and the confit Chicken were particularly good and Lachy said the Beef Burgundy was the best thing he had ever smelled! And the chat potatoes. Wow. Support a local business and spoil yourself at the same time. Price per person: $1–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Apricot danish was stale and overpriced, server needed to constantly be waving away flies from the pile of pastries on the counter. Getting a display case for your pastries would solve both issues. Not much of a vibe inside. Edit to reply: expecting customers to risk an in-person negative reaction to criticism is a poor business strategy. I’ve given constructive feedback with my review. Take it or leave it, I wont be back, maybe you can make your future customers experience better. Youre welcome by the way.

What a comeback! Rustic Café has reemerged as Rustic Restaurant — same cozy Belgrave location, but with a fresh new look, a killer menu, and now a liquor license! The whole place has been refreshed, and the vibe is better than ever. The food is next level — inventive, hearty, and beautifully presented. Whether you're into small plates like the burnt pepper calamari or feeling fancy with a slow-cooked beef bourguignon, there’s something here that hits the spot. And don’t skip the desserts — the sticky date pudding is dangerously good! Matty, the owner and chef, is an absolute legend — always up for a chat and a laugh, and clearly passionate about what he’s doing. You really feel welcomed here. Now serving great wine and local beer too, Rustic has truly become a standout restaurant in the Hills. Can’t wait to come back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
