I'm not a newbie here. Have been here a handful of times and loved it. This time however I was disappointed with the experience. My sons' entrees were mediocre (chicken and waffles and steak and eggs), but mine was sorely lacking. I had ordered a wedge salad and added shrimp to it as my protein. My salad came with a whopping 2 small shrimp on the plate . It cost an extra $10 to add on the shrimp! That makes it $5 per shrimp!! And we are not talking about jumbo sized shrimp either. These are the puny ones. What the heck?!! Needless to say I won't be ordering that again. Note to self-ask about the quantity/size of shrimp before adding it. The service was on point, which was the saving grace today. Otherwise I would have given this a 2 star.

First time is San Diego. Rustic. Root was recommended by a friend. Rooftop dining is a vibe. The chicken was fried crispy and seasoned very well. The pork belly fried rice dish was also flavorful. The cornbread waffle was new to me, and it was a hit. The Texas Smoked Brisket Hash was ok, but it's not a must try. If you are in San Diego, give Rustic Root a try.
