We had an incredibly satisfying dinner at Ryori Lab. Right from the moment we walked through those heavy wooden doors, the staff made us feel completely welcome and that top tier service continued throughout the entire night. We started things off with the Orange Sparkling and Yuzu Sparkling drinks. They were bright, crisp, and refreshing. For our appetizer, we had crispy tofu with truffle mushroom. The kitchen totally nailed the texture on this dish. You get a delicate crunch from the fried exterior right before hitting the rich, earthy mushroom topping. For the entree, I went with the New York strip gyukatsu. Getting to sear each piece of the lightly breaded beef on my own personal hot stone added such a fun, interactive element to the dinner. The butter sizzled perfectly on the grill and mixing and matching the different dipping sauces and fresh wasabi kept every bite interesting. My partner ordered the Unagi 3 ways. The eel was beautifully glazed and came packed in a traditional box with all the right sides and broth to experience the dish in three distinct styles. Honestly, finding food this excellent at such wildly reasonable prices feels rare lately. The team here clearly cares about the entire dining experience. We walked away totally satisfied and will definitely be coming back.

Love the atmosphere but food was ok. Gyukatsu is no where close enough to what we had in Japan. We prepare ourselves for that but still very disappointed how poor the flavor is. Unagi was good actually but called it 3 ways is kind of lame for how simple it was served. My truffle crispy tofu mushroom was also ok, the coat was too thick. Tried their matcha ice cream and it tastes exact like green tea ice cream in the bucket, that wasn’t the matcha flavor at all. Whoever owner is this absolutely did not spend their best into food quality, just feel very floppy. Price per person: $30–40 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
